Did you check Vista compatibility before installing the software the camera came with?

Check video software's website to see if there are any updates. I expect there will be.

No, Sony's Vegas and Adobe Premiere should work with Sony's. Both programs also have consumer-lever versions that cost less. Check their web sites for compatibility.
Ulead and Pinnacle should be compatible. Heck, for free, you can probably use Windows Movie Maker.

yea, i think windows movie maker should be able to get the job done, but now the only problem is that i need a usb driver for it. the imagermixer cd comes with a usb driver on it, but when i try to install it, it says its not compatible with my version of windows, which woudl be windows vista home basic. i tryed checking sony's website, but all they have is an uninstall tool. idk y they dont have actual drivers and stuff. so does anybody know where i can get a usb driver?

You need to use that uninstall tool to get the software off of there. As I suspected, it's NOT compatible with Vista and that tool is the only way to uninstall it.
Also, according to Sony, the camcorder itself is not supported in Vista. All you can do is - AFTER you get that install that you should not have done cleaned up, is plug the camcorder in. If Vista recognizes it for what it is, you have lucked out. If not, you will have to use XP or get a different camcorder. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/new...pl?news_id=128 |

XP Home goes for about 90 bucks. Yes, it will require a full wipe and reinstall.
