Windows 7 Pre-beta

Windows 7 Pre-beta released to developers today. Is this the fastest between versions or does it just seem that way? http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=575

I'm not really surprised. Microsoft needs to redeem themselves and how can they do that without another OS release? Hopefully they have learned from there mistakes with Vista.

Vista wasn't bad.

And isn't Windows 7 coming out the same time after vista that xp did 98, and 98 did 95? Seems like they just got back on track with how they used to do things.

Exactly. It seems people have forgotten pre-XP MS.

You have to congratulate Microsoft for making an OS that lasted over 6 years without any major dramas though. Problem with new OSes in quick succession is the constant upgrades if you want to stay on top. As of now I don't see any reason for me to move from XP, so I'm sticking with it until it becomes really obsolete.

Same here - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This box still has Win2K on it. The new one has XP because 2K isn't supported by my motherboard and there's some software I want to use that requires XP.
