drive partitioning and formatting software
Can anyone recommend a good program?
I have been using a bundled copy of PM 8 the disk of which appears to be giving up. I am reluctant to buy PM8 as it has not been updated in so long and does not support VISTA so when I do have to upgrade it wouldn't work for me. Currently running XP and the included paritioning software does't appear to let me get where I need to be anywhere near as easily as PM8 did. I need to be able to partition and format large drives. I currently have two 500GB in my main machine. I need to be able to do this prior to installation of windows. Any recommendations? |

If it's before windows install, why not just use windows? I've never used it but you can check out:

windows partitioning
Just tried windows partitioning booting from the installation disc. Somehow I have managed to get two 8mb unalocated partitions at the beginning of this drive and windows failing to recognise it for formatting (connected by USB, as I said, an external drive.
I've never had any trouble with PM8 and just want a recommendation for a replacement. Can't be arsed to mess around. UPDATED AND RESOLVED - thanks for replies Actually bought EASEUS Partition Manager PRO and it looks very good. Runs in windows and creates a bootable disk. Using bootable disk, just created partitions just as I would with PM8!! Last edited by kevvyb; 11-02-2008 at 03:52 PM. Reason: RESOLVED |

Why did you buy that when they have a free version available?

Easeus free version can not work with 64 bit and create a bootable CD. While its Professinal Edition can.

second reason not to use windows partition manager
It's very slow if formatting a large partition, much slower than PM8 or Easeus.
