Mozilla Thunderbird Problem

I have had to install a new hard drive in a machine due to windows failure, and after installing Mozilla Thunderbird I am trying to access/import from a previous version on the old hard drive which is connected as a slave unit, but I cannot seem to import the old files.
Can someone please help with this problem.

when you copy the files from one profile to another, you must do so with the program closed, otherwise the messages won't show up. Also, don't copy the *.msf files.
