transferring files
Hi--
I had a new PC built. My old PC had a new Operating system put on it, and my old files are on it as well. I want my old files on my new pc. I plan on using a flash drive just to make it simple. My old PC no longer has MS office on it, (my new one does) so all of the Word files are now wordpad and none of the other files can be read. My questions are: 1) When I copy all of them to the new pc, will the word pad files be automatically converted to MS word, or do I have to open them all and save as? 2) will the other files (.xls, .ppt, etc) open as normal? I am sure this question has been asked and answered already--if so, just point me to the thread. Thanks! That's all for now! |

The file extension will determine what program they associate with. Should work fine.
