smokin temp software

Hello all. Was wondering if anyone knows a good program to monitor my temps with accuracy. I have PC Wizard installed and no matter what i do, it always wants to say im running around 55-60oC. this cant be possible since not only have i added fans and it still stays the same, but i can leave it off for a day, turn it on and start up PC wizard and ill still get right arond the same temp lol. i realize most temp programs will be a little off, but i figured i should be running 30-40oC when i start it up after 24 hours of shutdown. I dont have a nice probe so i was just hoping for a decent program.

Core Temp, and real temp are good. Also, there should be temps in bios.

I personally prefer coretemp.

What processor?

That's not a dual core. It's a hyperthreaded single core, and Prescotts DO run QUITE hot.

It may be telling you the truth - its VERY common and easy to install the heatsink on a 775 incompletely. I'm betting you have a loose retention pin.

What are the temperature readings in your bios?

not sure about the bios, but this particular computer was a manufactured PC, when i bought it lol it specifically said dual core. Maybe they jipped me rofl. ive upgraded some of the components on this PC but have not changed the CPU at all.

Double check to make sure the heatsink is still completely in place and hasn't come loose.

After that, I wouldn't worry unless you're getting temp related problems.

i checked it and its ok. but i may replace the thermal paste sometime in the near future as it HAS been a while since it was done. And no i havent had any real temp related problems yet, i was just trying to make sure the temp readings im getting are accurate. guess ill have to go out and buy a probe, never had one, but ive heard they can be annoying after around 45oC with the warnings.

You do not need a probe. The temp readouts in the bios are almost always accurate.
