Inserting title into MS-Word document
Hi guys,
I have a fairly large manuscript in MS-Word format. A colleague of mine has asked that I insert the title of the work at the top of each page. Is there an easy to way to accomplish this in MS-Word? Thanks. |

Headers. Use the help system to see how to insert the same header on every page. Procedures may vary depending on the version of Word.

Since I have MS Word 2003, here's how:
View | Header and Footer. Also there's another tool to look into: Insert | Autotext |Author, Page #, Date |

Thanks Latamesh. Is there anyway to customize the Insert Autotext option?
Basically I want to insert text in the right margin of the header that reads: Author / Title of Book / Page # I've had some success with creating the Author / Title of Book / .....but getting the Page # to automatically # isn't working. Update....Ok, I figured a way to accomplish the above, but I do have one other question concerning headers - how do I keep my headers off of the title page and table of contents? Create a different header or footer for part of a document
When you create a header or footer, Word automatically uses the same header or footer throughout the entire document. To create a different header or footer for part of a document, divide the document into sections, and then break the connection between the header or footer in the current section and the previous one. 1 If you haven't done so already, insert a section break where you want to start a new section that contains a different header or footer. How? 2 Click in the section for which you want to create a different header or footer. 3 On the View menu, click Header and Footer. 4 If necessary, move to the header or footer you want to change. How? 5 On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Same as Previous . 6 Change the existing header or footer, or create a new one for this section. How? Word automatically makes the same changes to the headers or footers for all subsequent sections. 7 To create a different header or footer for a subsequent section, repeat steps 1 through 6. |
