WMP problems

Hey I have a friend that uses Yahoo mail. We are here in Iraq and when he uses the office computer to open mail that contains a video attachment that is located in his Yahoo mail, ( he uses the free yahoo), everything works fine, video plays. But when he goes to his hooch where he has wireless Internet that is provided by an on base vendor located in the US. He can not open any email attachment that has a video.

In the office he is using company laptop, in his hooch he is using personal laptop. My guess was that the company laptop has a plugin that he does not have on his personal laptop. So first I went to Adobe I was right he needed Adobe Flash, we got one email to open. So this must be the problem. Nothing elese opens though. Can someone list plugin's he might need.

Thanks Ken

WMP should be able to handle most videos. The only major movie formats that WMP doesn't handle, I think, are Quicktime and RealOne Player files. If you do have problems playing various movies in WMP, I would suggest trying VLC. It's a good player and can be found HERE. I believe it will even play the aforementioned Quicktime and Real formats as well.

If it's other types, the only ones I can think of are Flash and Shockwave. You can get Shockwave at Adobe's site where you got Flash.

Only other thing that I can think of as being something you might get in an email is a PowerPoint slideshow. If you have Powerpoint installed, then no problem, but if not, you can get the free Powerpoint viewer by CLICKING HERE. That's the 2003 version....there IS a 2007 version, but I've read about some people having problems with that one interacting with certain other programs, so I still prefer the 2003 version. Plus, it's a heck of a lot smaller to download.
