Outlook 2007 won't send email
Hello everyone,
I was working on a friend's new Dell Studio laptop. She has Vista home edition running SP1 and McAfee anti-virus. I installed MS Outlook 2007 and used the exact same email settings that were on her desktop computer. The new laptop will receive email but when you go to send it says everything sent but it never shows in the sent folder nor does it every get to the recipient. I tried turning off McAfee's firewall and using Windows firewall but no good. I also checked to make sure McAfee was allowing Outlook full access and it was. I searched on here and google and find people with the same issue but no real fix. I'm currently stumped and would appreciate any help.

Should I just remove Vista and install XP? As her desktop ran XP and worked fine, but the laptop came with Vista

Say for example - her email is with Comcast. Are you connected to Comcast's network when trying to send? Or is the lappy now connected via a different ISP? (if so - no can do)

She currently runs Verizon Fios, but she logs into a work server for email to send and receive. That's how it was setup on her desktop and we copied the exact same settings into Outlook 2007. Outlook will receive but will not send .

You will probably have to send using Verizon's SMTP server. Either that, or you haven't looked in the advanced settings to see if you need a port other than the default (25).

GLC, thank you for your reply but her old computer was setup to send and receive through her work server. I figured it would work through Verizon also. I hooked up her old desktop the other day to check the settings and that computer still could send and receive through the work server and I also checked the advanced settings to send through incoming server I believe was the option.
Her work thinks it has something to do with Vista. I'm at a loss for what is wrong. |
