Software for creating backup copies of game disks

Hi

I have a couple of favourite games that require the cd/dvd to be put in the optical drive to play, and I've noticed that these disks are getting quite scratched despite my best efforts to keep them safe.

Is there any way of making a good copy of these disks so I can put away the original and use the copy day-to-day? Some googling leads to a prog called Daemon Tools, which seems to be an 'optical media emulator', which could be a possible alternative in theory. Daemon Tools also links to a program called Astro Burn which I could use to make a disk of the Daemon Tools image. Dubious or OK? Also a program called ISOBuster, which seems to do everything under the sun, but I wouldn't know where to start....

(before anyone reads between any lines, this is not a badly disguised way of asking about pirating stuff. I'm proud to say that i own a license for every piece of software on my machine, and i intend to keep it that way)

Thanks for any advice/guidance

I'd be interested in this also. And, if I can add to the request, I'd be interested in a good software for creating copies of my purchased DVD collection. My toddler loves to watch his movies but he loves getting his grubby fingers on the discs even more. Keeping the original discs safe would help keep us from having to buy the same stuff again and again.

Yes there is a way to do what you want but it will cost you.

Slysoft has two programs :

http://www.slysoft.com/en/gamejackal.html

http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html

The first makes it unnecessary to have the disk in the drive and the second copies games discs ( yes even the ones that are DVD ).

There's a 3 week trial period so you can try them both out.

If you just want to use a no cd crack then go here ( Tread carefully, these guys police their links but you still have to use common sense. If you see a link that offers the full game instead of the no cd crack skip it and report it to them ) : http://www.gamecopyworld.com/

thanks Pam. I did actually see a link to the Slysoft website from initial googling, but the 'sly' name kinda put me off so I didn't pursue it. But it seems that these guys are the recommended solution, though. Guess that's why they charge for their product I am tempted by the try b4 you buy, and they also have a 20% discount going on at present.

I noticed that CloneCD is not a 100% cert at success - quite a few people on the sly forums saying 'this doesn't work with xyz game'.

Are there any freeware solutions out there that you would recommend as an alternative to CloneCD?

I checked out gamecopyworld but didn't hang around too long - too many adverts for russian brides etc.

Sorry, there are no free programs to do what you want.

No de-crypter is 100%, though some come closer then others, still since you can try it out you can make up your mind if it will work for you before you plunk down your cash.
