InstallShield error message

Hi.. Cyberlink's Power DVD was included in the software that I got with my SONY external DVDR burner that I bought several years ago. It loaded fine on my old computer. I just tried to load it on one of my two new computers, and got an error message: OX80040703 . When I googled this, several hits mentioned that it was an error message due to a wrong version of InstallShield. I then tried to load it on my other new computer (both have XP), and it installed fine, and plays DVDs. I really want it on the first computer tried.

Does this sound right? Will just downloading a later version of InstallShield solve the problem? Is InstallShield generally included in Microsoft's OSs?

Thank you.. any ideas appreciated.

It's possible and here's how to download and install the latest version : http://knowledge.acresso.com/selfser...8322&sliceId=1

It is the industry standard for Windows installations, it's a 3rd party company.

What version (6, 7 etc.) of Power DVD did you try to install , what are the specs on those two computers and are they laptops?

Pam.. both have Windows XP SP2, 2GB RAM, and plenty of HD space, and are desktops. The one it wouldn't load on has ans Asus MB and an Intel C2D chip (1 year old). The successful one has Intel 3.2GHz chip in an Intel MB (3 years old). The PowerDVD came as one program of several on a CD that came with an external DVDR by Sony a few years ago, so was probably an SE version.. has no version # listed on it. always worked fine on old computer, and on one that installed fine now.

Thanks.. I'll try the newer InstallShield (although I looked into it before, and it's a HUGE download, and costly). I'd like to get this version of PowerDVD to work.. the newest version (8?) has horrible reviews.. most reviewers preferred V5 down.

Thanks again,

I would try VLC : http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ for the other computer.

It's free so it won't cost you anything to try.
