Question Adobe just disappears.. ??

Anyone have issues with Adobe (Reader and/or Acrobat) seemingly just disappearing from the OS?

This has happened before with Reader, and I've just reinstalled it.. No biggie. But it just happened again on one of my desktops within the last couple days, where Acrobat 7 Standard just quit. There's still a program group, but it's "Empty".

Then just today, I noticed Reader 9 just missing. Again, program group was there but a blank/null icon. Folder was still there, but nothing in it.

Is this some sort of strange issue with Adobe corrupting itself? Not having this problem with any other software, and it happens specifically with Adobe software on multiple machines.

Thanks,

If all you need is a reader, take a look at the free Foxit reader. I gave up on the Adobe reader, it was just getting too obnoxious and bloated.

Use Windows Explorer to find Acrobat - you may just be losing the shortcuts.

I looked around, and the executable was absent.

I just did a repair install of Acro 7 from within add/remove and it downloaded some content from the web. Works fine now. I do use Acrobat to create PDF's from time to time, and my g/f uses it as well. I've stuck with 7.0 since it's a little less bloated than the later versions.

I was just curious if there was some known issue with Adobe apps eating themselves, however, Google yielded no matching results on the matter.

Why don't you use some other app to create, then just use a simple PDF converter/printer such as CutePDF?

No particular reason, I've just had Adobe for a few years and it's always done the job. If I continue to run into strange problems I'll probably just use Cute.

I have experienced the same problem a few times. I now use Foxit reader.

Where are you installing adobe from? When you say it's happening on multiple systems, were these machines all installed from the same image?
