Post TIP: How to flash a BIOS with a USB stick

I didn't see a thread here, so I thought I'd make one. This is a small guide on how to flash your BIOS with a USB Key/Stick/Drive starting the process from Windows XP/Vista.

1. Reformat your USB stick to FAT32. (You can do this by going to My Computer, right clicking on your USB drive, and following the instructions in the window.)

2. Download unetbootin here.

3. Run the program, and find FreeDOS in the "Select Distribution" drop-down box. Check at the bottom of the window to make sure your USB drive is selected. Click OK.

4. Let the program run, then restart your computer.

5. When back in Windows, download and extract your flashing program to the USB stick. Also download the motherboard update file and extract it there too.

6. Your USB drive is now bootable, boot off of it and select "FreeDOS with LiveCD only" in the menu. The program will execute, then A:\ (or similar) will be at the bottom. Type in C: and hit enter. Then, type in the file name of your flash program and flash as normal.

I hope this helps the people who do not own a floppy drive. It's not too complicated and can be finished within a few minutes. Other programs may be put here too, like memtest etc.

For some asus boards, you can use ez-flash: http://support.asus.com/technicaldoc...e=en-us&NO=960
