Microsoft Word - No button response

Hi folks,

I have Microsoft Word 2007 with Vista on a Dell E1405.

Recently Word has stopped responding to button commands made with left and right mouse buttons. I cannot click into a place in a document when editing although I can start typing at the beginning of a document and use Control-A and so on to select text. The buttons work fine for other laptop activities including Internet Explorer.

How do I reenable button commands for Word so it recognizes them?
