Microsoft Excel search

At the moment I have no proof that this is a Security issue so I'll put it in General Software.
Last Tuesday I was called to a customers office to deal with a machine that was freezing up during Windows Explorer seraches. I ran all the usual malware scanners on it and they all came back clean, while tidying a few things up I noticed two versions of Microsoft Office installed. I uninstalled both versions and reinstalled Office 2003 and the machine appeared to be running better. It still froze up from time to time but it had lost it's hesitancy. I still wasn't really happy with the machine and a service I offer to some of my commercial customers is to collect machines Friday evening or Saturday morning, work on them over the weekend and return them Monday morning in order to limit the disruption to business.
I decided to pick this machine up yesterday morning and run hardware diagnostics on it, this machine should be flying along, it has an Asus P5KPL mobo, a Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale cpu and 2gigs of Adata ram.
All the hardware diagnostics came back clean, so I decided to do another clean up of the files and file system. While using Ccleaner I noticed a program called MS Excel search in the uninstall list, I searched all over the machine and couldn't find it anywhere in the system or program files. I uninstalled this application and the freezing problem appears to have gone away.
I did a Google search and there is a search engine for Excel but it's not a seperate application, it is part of Excel.
Any body know anything about this application?

It sounds like some one added one of those 3rd party programs that they still put out for search/find in Excel :http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads...oft-excel.html

The other possibility, assuming the other Office install was earlier that 2003, is that it was an Add-In that you had to download separately if you wanted to Search in Excel back then like one of these : http://www.download32.com/excel-quic...ch-i52914.html

I'd be willing to bet that someone just plain forgot it was there till you found it.
