"Mailwasher" or somesuch recommendation

The wife just bought a new HP laptop running Vista Home Premium. She uses it primarily for internet, email, etc. We installed MS Office 2003 so she uses Outlook as her email client. In the past, we've run Mailwasher to delete spam before it's downloaded. With her new setup, should she run some sort of program like Mailwasher, or should she just use Outlook to control spam? I haven't used Outlook much, so I'm not sure what the capability is, or how to use Outlook to filter spam. TIA

In Outlook, you have to to right click on spam mail one at a time and select the option "send to junk folder" (or somethng like that)

I have been using mailwasher for many years (since its first beta version) and it works great. it will get rid of your spam but some will creep through as in almost all cases. Spam arrest is a great program too but a bit costly unless you get volumes of spam then the cost is minimal, but for the average "joe" who gets a couple spam mails a day mailwasher is a great program.

Thanks for the info folks. The wife doesn't get much spam, so I'll see if she can manage it with Outlook.

You can set up the junkmail options with Outlook 2003. Open Outlook and then go Actions, Junk E-Mail, Junk E-Mail Options and set it as high or low as you want.

Hope that helps
