I got an old computer from my buddy. I plan on setting it up for my Mom. Hers is much older. While trying to find drivers for the MoBo it took forever becasue everyone wanted to sell me their new auto-driver update program. That is the last thing I want running on my computer.
It seems that everyone wants to have all these programs running on the computers now a days. 99.9% of the time they are doing nothing but using up processor resources. I tried one of these programs a while back and it didn't give me any driers that I couldn't find on my own. It took a long time to to get set-up. |

I totally agree. I always go to the motherboard manufacturer's website for my drivers - and if it's a name brand computer, the computer manufacturer's website. If you use cheap, offbrand components, then you may have problems. I have yet to have an issue finding drivers for Asus motherboards.
Not only that, there is seldom a need to update motherboard drivers - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. |
