AVG wont uninstall- corrupt causing constant rebooting.

I have a PC that is attempting to boot but just keeps rebooting.
The cause seems to be a partially installed/aborted AVG installation.
It will not uninstall either from its own Uninstall feature or
from control panel, Add or remove programs.
AVG FAqs suggest installing a new version on top of the old.
The new will not install but sends me to control panel to
remove the old version first, which it wont.
I've even tried dumping the entire
Grisoft folder,thats in the Program files folder, into Recycle but get
'write protected ' .
What now ? Use some 3rd party uninstall program ?

Thanks Pam- I used some free uninstaller called Rosio/Roxio? that
worked fine but the situation has got worse - just getting blue
screen error now. Working on it.
Will run your MS clean up utility now.

Revo uninstaller (free) will uninstall the program and all of the things it installs in the registry. I like it. I also use (and like so far) the new Microsoft Anti-Virus program (free also). Runs much better than AVG.
