Outlook 2002 question?

Hey guys,

I'm new to using Outlook and I have a quick question regarding "semd/receive" function.

I went under options and changed the "send/receive" function to automatically send and receive every minute. My question is, is their an option somewhere to change it to real-time and receive the email in my inbox?

Another question. when receiving a new email, is their an option where I can be alerted with a popup or something similar?

Thank you in advance!

David

You're checking for new mail every minute and you'd like to check more often - is that what you're asking? Inquiring minds want to know WHY....

Tools->Options->Preferences->Email Options->Advanced button->When New Mail Arrives will show you the three options.

Thinking back to my first question, I do find it funny. I know it checks mail every 1 minute, but I was just curious if I could receive it instantly, that's all. Thanks for your help!

No, you cannot receive it instantly with ANY application. Patience, young grasshopper!

Hey guys,

I have yet another question with regard to Outlook 2002:

Every time when I open the program, it asks me to log in to the network. So I enter my password and check off the box to remember my password. I hit ok and am prompted with an error regarding my pop server rejecting my login to send/receive my emails.

So I hit cancel for that screen and then I manually hit the send/receive icon and I receive my emails that way with no problem.

I have no idea why that error pops up? I guess it is nothing since I can still hit the send/receive button but that error message is getting annoying now and I'm wondering if anyone has encountered that problem before?

Thanks,

David

Look in the Tools->Account settings ->More Info options->Outgoing server tab

Might need to UNcheck the My Outgoing server requires authentication...or possible you might need to select that....Odds are your ISP has info on what options need to be selected.

Awesome! That's exactly what I needed to make that authentication popup go away! Thank you!
