Office Enteprise Install Failure
Got a copy of Office Enterprise 2007 via Microsoft's Home Use Program. Comes in as an .exe file.
Tried installing it and it tells me "Setup cannot find Proofing.en-us\Proof.fr\Proof.cab. Browse to a valid installation source, and the click Ok." Windows 7. I've searched high and low for this file and can't find it. It seems that is a problem as when I search Google and Microsoft's support forums it is a problem that pops up (I've seen some posts from late 2006!). I can't find a coherent solution to the problem, so I thought I would see if anyone at the Mech had encountered the problem and had found a workable solution. Thanks,

Comes in as an .exe file - this is probably a "I'm going to connect to the Internet and get the rest of the files I need" type installation.
Does the pc have Internet access? Are there any instructions on the site where you got the file? |

I also burned the .exe file to a CD and tried installing it from CD and received the same request to locate this mysterious proof.cab file.

Burning it to a CD made it read-only, which can cause issues right there.

Double check the web site where you got the file.
I recently downloaded tge Beta for Office 2010...It was a good size EXE file but it it only part of the needed files...it will reack out via the internet and get more files as needed. Other Office files from Microsoft would normally be an ISO file. |

I'm wondering if the .exe might be an iso packed as a self-extractor? If so, then you run it and extract it to an empty folder, then burn the iso as an image with a CD/DVD burning program.

When I double-click on the .exe it starts the install rather than asking to be extracted to somewhere. So, I think, that rules the possibility of it be an iso packed as a self-extractor?
