Xmarks: Fantastic Bookmark Synchronizer

OK...so let's say your on your laptop and you stumble across a website you really like. You create a new bookmark/favorite in your browser. Then a few days later your're on your main desktop PC and for the life of you can't remember what that site was called. You go to your bookmarks but of course it's not there because you created it on your laptop.

Xmarks: An add on for Firefox, IE 8, Chrome & Safari 4. So for example you have Firefox on your laptop and desktop. Install the Xmarks extension on to both and create a free account. Now whenever you create a new bookmark on one machine...the same bookmark will appear on the other. Pretty sweet. Also if you ever loose all your important bookmarks for whatever reason have no fear. Xmarks stores your entire bookmarks in your secure, private account online and can be transferred over to any new browser install on any machine anytime.

I know there are other ways of doing this like "del.icio.us" I believe, but this is the easiest, most automatic way I have found to do this type of thing.

Check it out if this sort of application interests you.

I've been using this for about 8 months now. I really like it. I have 2 desktops, a laptop, and my work PC, and this keeps bookmarks synchronized perfectly among all 4 units.

Other than the WeatherWatcher plug-in/extension, XMarks is the only one I use.

I've used Foxmarks as long as I have used Firefox which is at least over 2 years, maybe 3 or more. Occasionally it gives me a warning about a bug and how it only shows one bookmark and asks if I really want to update or leave them as they are. It is cool at least that they have the workaround to protect the bookmarks.

Just found a couple of other promising add-ons: NoScript, which blocks scripts from executing from untrusted sites; FireFTP, which adds a FTP client right within Firefox; and I've been using Weather Watcher Live for about a year now. It puts little forecast icons, current temp, etc. in your status bar. They have a great free weather program for Windows Mobile phones too.
