MD5 calculator

Hi

what MD5 calculators do people use? I found a recommendation on the forum once, but can't relocate it.

Thanks in advance

Happy new year!

Do you mean converters? Or MD5 hash of a file?

Hash of a file, I think. To verify downloads. A program that will calculate an MD5 has of a file which I can then compare to the 'advertised' MD5 on the download site.

many thanks

What you're looking for is called a checksum utility.

There's a number of free ones kicking around.

The one I use regularly is:

1) Hashtab. This adds a new tab called "File Hashes"to your file properties dialog which calculates a variety of checksums such as MD2, SHA-1, etc. You can compare directly between files. Simply copy and paste the hash value. Its free.
