Firefox not loading web pages all of a sudden

hey guys,

something very weird is going on with my pc - firefox is either really slow at first or just doesn't even try loading web pages. once it starts doing that, IE doesn't work either, OE doesn't check emails.. but i am able to ping servers via cmd or play a few games etc.. i have a feeling its avast since i just upgraded it to the new version and there may be a link. i uninstalled firefox on my pc and will try reinstalling it (downloading a fresh copy without any configurations and will copy it to my pc). i tried disabling avast but it still does the same effect.. i have no idea whats going on - avast said it found a virus at scvhost.exe so i restarted the computer and it did a scan - maybe it deleted a file that was needed? im not completely sure to be honest - it said it deleted 3 files from the temporary internet folder so i doubt thats it.

thanks alot in advance.. this is one of the most annoying problems ive had in a while and would appreciate some help

edit: I contacted my ISP and did some "netsh" reset via cmd.. it seems to be ok so far, ill update you if any problem arises (im going back to my base for 2 weeks tomorrow though )
