Problem Uninstalling

I am trying to do a clean re-install on my Flight Simulator X:Acceleration program however I have problem uninstalling it using the Add/Remove Program. I tried three times and it seemed successful every time but the program is still there when I go back and check in Add/Remove. In the Window Explorer, the game is still there. Will it be wise to simply start deleting files and folders associated with the FSX and then go back to the Add/Remove and see if it can be successfully uninstalled?

I tried uninstalling using the Revouninstaller and also tried it with Perfect Uninstaller but everytime it interrupts the process with the following warning: "A network error occurred while attempting to read the file C:\Windows\installer\FSXX.msi". Then the process seemed to reverse (reinstall) after that. I was unable to find the file listed above. Got any clues?

Those are Windows Update files....If you are very certain you'll NEVER want to uninstall an update - you can delete the folders.

EzyStvy: Before I delete them (blue lettered files) in Windows can you tell me why they were there for and any occasion that will require me to uninstall an update?

Whenever you install an update, it puts the old files into that structure and compresses them - the blue signifies compressed files. I would leave them alone, they should not hurt anything.

GLC:

Will do as suggested however can you tell me anything about why I'm getting that error message "A network error ocurred while attempting to read for the file "C:\Windows\Installer\FSXX.msi"? That message is the one that interrupts the uninstall whether it be using the Add/Remove or using Perfect Uninstaller or Revouninstaller softwares.

Have you Googled that exact message yet? That's all I can do because I've never seen it before.

Yes I did glc. Collected a bunch of info with possible potentials. First I upgraded my Window Installer. Then I installed "Window Installer Clean-up" and removed FSX and associated FSX files from there. However when I went back to the Add/Remove the FSX is still listed. I tried removing it and this time a window appeared stating: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed" Is it possible that the FSX is no longer installed but it is listed in the Add/Remove? By the way the only programs listed in the Add/Remove are: Flight Simulator X: Acceleration. SP1 and SP2. I did not see FSX there. Are we making progress?

Yes.

Download and install CCleaner. Run the registry tool till it no longer comes up with errors.
