Removed MS Office by accident
Hi,
Yesterday I downloaded a trial version of MS Office 2007 in my boss's PC which is very OLD. After dowloading, the already slow crawling computer came to a complete halt. So I removed the 2007 version from control panel (add and remove program). And here comes the nightmare, I was unable to open all the word files. That's not all, the CD drive was stuck and I was not able to load the MS Office 2003 again. Anyone can give me some advice on how to download the program again. There are working USB ports and a floppy disc drive. (They said I may need hundreds of floppy discs to do that). Have mercy and help please!! |

There really isn't much you can do without having a working CD/DVD drive. Floppies are definitely not a viable option.
Your only realistic options are to either: a) Get your CD drive working or get a new optical drive; they aren't expensive... about $18 or so for a desktop version of a DVD reader; or b) If you dont know/want to open up your computer to replace the CD drive .. you could get a USB -CD/DVD drive .. about $40 or so (slightly more for a recordable one); or c) get yourself a USB flash drive .. take your CD to a working computer .. and copy all the files from the CD to your USB key and install on your old computer If you need to be able to use your Word documents without Office 2003 .. consider using google docs - http://docs.google.com/ or download and use http://www.openoffice.org/. If the PC is really old, then open office would do nearly everything Office 2003 would do, without the bloatware. |
