Burning ISO image files
So I downloaded Ubuntu and im trying to install it on a blank WD 500gb SATA HDD. I burned the ISO image to a blank CD-R 700MB CD (Ubuntu ISO file was 699MB) using Roxio Creator Basic V9 and it said that it was successful. When I put the disc in the computer with the blank HDD it won't boot. Windows XP CD will boot on that same computer so im not sure why the created Ubuntu disc won't. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Did you burn it as an image? You can't just make a data CD and burn the file. I did exactly the same thing a couple weeks ago and used Nero Express, and the CD booted fine.

Yeah It says "burn Image" right on the button i click. Using roxio creator basic V9 the tab on the left has these options; home, audio, backup, copy, data, photo, video, tools. Under the Copy tab I selected the option "burn image".

Load the cd-r in windows and open it to explore what's on your cd-r. If you see one iso file on the cd-r, you did not burn the iso correctly. If you see several files and folders on the cd you did.

Hey i got it to work. i just went to advanced options and chose the data tab and clicked the box "I only need to use discs for one recording. (You will not be able to add data in the future, but more dvd drives will be able to read the disc)"
Now its time to play around with ubuntu! |
