Question Computer sees burned data CD as audio CD

My brother gave me a CD he burned of some downloads. I know it is a data CD, I was at his house when he checked the contents to make sure what I wanted is on it. But when I put it in either of my computers, it says it is an audio CD and tries to play it with WMP on one, and ATI's Multimedia Center on the other. We both have EZ CD Creator. It is possible that he burned this one with Nero though, he had Nero on his system for a very short while, literally a few hours while he was testing out a 24x TDK burner. Any suggestions?

Just open Explorer, and actually view what's there.
Open a DOS box, and browse it.
At least you'll be able to tell what's going on then, and it could be your software thinking any CD you put in will be audio, even when it's not.

This is just a guess, but did your brother "finalize" the CD when he burned it? I remember a couple years ago when I was first getting aquainted with my new $249 2x burner hehe, I burned an audio CD full of tracks, but didn't close the session, leaving the CD open for further recording. Well the CD played fine in the burner, but when I tried to use it in any other player it wouldn't read it. So that's just a thought, because I was using EZ-CD Creator back then.

On a side note, you should consider ditching EZCD and using Nero, the general consensus seems to be that Nero is a better utility.

Question

Hmmm, according to DOS, it is a 44 byte CDA file. Like I said, I KNOW it isn't, I was there when he checked the contents of the CD. And no, I didn't switch it out for another by mistake. According to Explorer, it also says "44 bytes", but if I right click on the E: drive and pull up the properties, it says 659 megs used, 0 megs free. My brother thinks it is because he burned at 24x with 12x compatible CDR's, but I think that if it worked, it worked, and that if it was gonna error it would have done it during the burn process. O well, I guess I'll just get him to burn me another copy of all this stuff...
