The IBM/Hitachi will work on all drives. Make sure to use the newest UBCD.

It works. I've used it on sata of different brands regularly.

Hmmm, that's weird. I just ran it on a desktop machine and it found the Seagate hdd just fine (80Gb). That one uses an Asus mobo (5KPL-AM/PS) with an Intel cpu. I tried loading the disk on an AMD based Dell laptop I just finished repairing with a new Seagate sata hdd. That one won't even load the IBM/Hitachi diagnostics. Tried an older version of the UBCD (4.0) and that one does the same thing, hangs at loading DFT. Not sure what the issue is, Al. Sorry for the bum steer.

Edit: Just tried running the Seagate Diagnostics. Only the older version will work. More weirdness.

Try it with ATA only. I don't think SCSI applies in this case. Sata and Pata are both ATA.
