Microsoft Office

I am afraid I know the answer to part of this, but not all of it. I was keeping track of performances at church (choir and special music) in a Word Document. The data would be date performed, service (two mornings or night), the person or group doing so (and individual group members from within the group) and soloists or group members within choir song if both performed, the name of the song and the accompaniment (myself, the pastor's wife or pre-recorded midi file (by me or my predecessor) or accompaniment CD.

I want a way to be able to manipulate the data better and to print up, copy paste etc. for repeats etc. The part I suspect I know is that is it possible to export / transfer the data already entered (years worth) to a database or spreadsheet? It might be preferable even if I had to make tables or something to make this happen. Probably not, but a guy can dream.

The next question would be what would be the simplest, most flexible way to do this. I am not too familiar with either program, but want something that meets my needs and is flexible should I need the data elsewhere. If worse came to worse, I might be able to put the data in the CD Trustee program which uses Access 97 database and then import it into Access 2003. I admit, I don't even know how to print from Access in a fashion that fits on the page and with the fields the way I want them. Thanks, Terry

P.S. I really need to do this quickly as I need to update and send a soloist the things they have performed here thus far. If need be, I will continue on with that in the Word until I can do something else I guess.

You can save the Word document as a .txt file, then open it with Excel. That may help.

You may also want to look into the "open office" suite of programs. Free and doesn't have some of the problems between versions like MS.
