ATI control software crashing
When I turn on my computer, it boots fine until I get to the desktop. Here I get a message that "CCC [Catalyst Control Centre] host application has stopped working"
I have tried checking online for a solution , to no effect. I have tried installing the latest drivers, repairing it through Add/remove programs, and tried using a system restore point from before the issue occured, none of which have helped. Has anyone else encountered this/know of a solution? I'm running windows 7 with a 4890. Thanks

Download the latest DISPLAY DRIVER ONLY, then completely uninstall all ATI drivers and software and install the DRIVER ONLY.

I've done that and the error is gone, thanks
But now I have no way to control my card's settings. Are there any other programs other than CCC I can use, or will I be fine without it? |

I have a problem like this at work on my 4850 on XP. I fixed it by delaying the startup of the CCC with 1 minute. It's conflicting with another program, but I have not had time to figure out which. Used "Startup Delayer"
Maybe it's worth giving it a shot.

What do you need to control that Windows can't control?

Don't CCC use microsafts .net stuff? maybe it has something todo with that! I know I could not install CCC on a computer one time unless .net not sure the version was installed or maybe there is a startup program interfering with CCC

DotNet2 must be installed on the PC for Catalyst CC to run. As far as I know DotNet2 & 3 is part of Windows7 (integrated on the OS) |
