computer makes a Beeping noise

Dear readers,

I've got a question, I'm not all that deep into computers but anyhows I've got a PC running microsoft XP which is about 2 years old.

As of a week ago it started making a continuous beep noise, which is very loud especially when I'm browsing the webs or playing a game. Just about the same time I started seeing messages that my virtual memory is too low, which is odd because I haven't changed any hardware on my computer, nor hardly any software.

The only remarkable thing was that it started after I removed a Malicious? software program that somehow hat gotten it's way on my computer called shareware.pro. It was some sort of toolbar. I tried deleting that toolbar with my windows installer, but somehow the toolbar did not show up on the windows installer, which was remarkable as well. I then located the map the program was situated and found an uninstaller called "UNWISE.EXE". Now I know it might be unwise to click on something called unwise.exe, but it's supposed to be an uninstaller.....

I wonder if these problems could be related, and if so if anyone knows how to fix it? I've tried increasing my virtual memory.... but perhaps it's not large enough?

here's the specifications;
Operating system; Microsoft Windows XP professional with SP2
Processor; AMD athlon 64x dual core processor 5000+, 2,61 GHz, 2 GB RAM

I just noticed my virtual memory was set at 1-3 GB, I will switch it now to 5-10 GB.. perhaps that will finish it.

The beeping noises really scare me as they seem to happen at moments when the computer is very busy calculating, mostly while playing online games. I've tried cleaning up the registry, I've tried defragmentation but nothing so far works and I really do not want my PC to blow up or anything

Anyhows, thanks for your time,

Mauranius

You can't set the VM any higher than 4095mb.

Scan the computer with Malwarebytes and a good antivirus. Check your system temperatures, the beeping could be an overheat alarm.

Have you any Symantec software installed on that machine? UNWISE.EXE is the uninstaller for Wise Corp. products.
