Outlook Express
I would like to import a ton of old emails (and folders) from several Outlook Express boxes on a 98SE computer to Outlook Express on an XP computer. Is it possible to import the DBX in this fashion and possibly into Outlook later?

Yes. When you import, import from OE6, then choose import from a store directory. Browse to the folders containing the .dbx files.

I had imported from within the old 98SE computer, but hadn't tried on the XP or into Outlook. I will have to get all my files transferred off of the old computer and give it a shot.

I've used a pen drive to do it. Get everything into OE first, before you try to bring it into Outlook.

I haven't been able to take the time to get all the data off (plus I need to clear off a fat32 external or get a larger jump drive and make it fat32). So, you are saying to put it into OE on the XP computer first?

Yes - get OE working on the XP computer first, with your .dbx files. Then it's a simple import into Outlook.
