Onscreen Volume control display
I believe this is the right thread to ask for this kind of help.
Recently I was able to download a windows 7 ultimate upgrade through my university. The upgrade however required me to do a full upgrade not that partial windows active update or something. So after fully upgrading from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate I noticed something went missing. I no longer get a graphical display of the volume level on screen when I use the volume control buttons on my keyboard. There is nothing wrong with the volume or the function of the keys, it is just now I am missing the the image that would popup on screen showing the volume level. I am using a HP P6537c With the bundled HP monitor HP2301m and the keyboard and mouse are both HP (included in bundle) Anyone know what has happened to the volume graphics, and possibly what I can do other than downgrade my OS to regain the graphics? Thank you for reading and you assistance. |

That's a function that would be provided by custom HP software. You need to go to HP's website and download the software they have to control that. I believe the software you need is called Quick Set or Quick Touch but I can't say for sure. Perhaps if you search the HP website for the particular model number of your keyboard you will find the software.
There are freeware type packages that can provide this functionality such as Volumouse and 3RVX but they probably won't work with the keyboard volume controls but work with other key/mouse buttons to control volume.

You might look into the same issue with XP to see if the same fix applies. I found it off a google search for "missing volume icon".

hey thanks guys for the input. I tried to look for a driver/software off of HP's support site but haven't been able to find anything yet so i decided to just email them my issue and hope it doesn't take 4 months to get a response. Thanks guys, i'll try to post up a fix if i receive one.
but if anyone else knows what i'm talking about and has a fix it would be appreciated. |
