Microsoft Money Alternative

I have been using microsoft money and it seems that it is being offered anymore coming up soon. Is there any software out there that functions similar to microsoft money? I usually use it as my checkbook register, so that is the biggest thing I am looking for.

Thanks.

Just be cause it won't be available for purchase doesn't mean your copy will stop working does it?

You can create an Excel spreedsheet in a few minutes to do check book type stuff.

Yes it will still work, but bank downloads and stuff like that to update your register will be discountinued.

I found a software I will try when I get home called

You Need A Budget - Finance Software for Windows, Mac & Linux

I know there are online options, but I just like the desktop based better.

That looks pretty good. I've been using Buxfer for over a year now to keep track of spending.

Quicken and or Quickbase. You'll need to see which apps your bank supports.

I'd recommend Intuit's products (Quicken), they were before M$ Money and have become standard for banks. I know both of my financial institutions support only Quicken and Money, though the credit card bank also lets me download as comma separated or something like that, which can be opened in Excel.

Apparently so: How to Use the Check Register in Quicken | eHow.com

You might want to check out their website and browse through their products, as I'm no expert in finance software -or finances for that matter.

Quicken® Free Personal Finance Software, Money Management, Budgeting, Personal Finances

What?? I thought I was giving you the link for the installable version. My bad. Anyway, in that web page you can click on Products and be able to analyse each of them.
