We need more information: type and model of printer, how you're connecting it to the PC, for starters.

OK, you need to log on to your router's setup and see if you have MAC filtering enabled. If you do, then you have to choices: add the printer's MAC address to it (recommended) or disable it altogether.
Do you have your router's manual? |

Try this:
Open a web browser window. In the address field type: 192.168.0.1 and hit Enter. You'll be prompted for your login and password. The manual should tell you what's the default login (it's usually "admin", without the quotes) and password. Once there you should have several tabs. Peruse them and see if you can find something related to MAC address or MAC filtering. |

Hello Nuclear Krusader, it is 192.168.1.1 for my router, says on the back and password etc.
It does say a Mac address, but, you cannot edit it, disable it, nothing. And as for Disabling Mac filtering, Allow all ports excess, nothing at all. Checked all through the settings, every single one of them. What can i do? The router lists my Laptop only. Thanks Gep |

Hmm, according to page 3-11, the router has MAC filtering disabled by default. Did you make any changes to the router's configuration? Did you set it up? Did you just plug it in?
Addenda: Read section 5. In page 5-5 there's a window that you can use to see if your router it's finding the printer. Additionally, in page 7-6, it is described how you can see if the printer's found by pinging it. Last edited by Nuclear Krusader; 09-17-2010 at 05:00 PM. |

Try to try the printer with the USB cable, just to rule out a bad printer.
Next, the printer should have its MAC address printed somewhere, see if you can find it. If you haven't enabled MAC filtering, then you need to tell HP that. Check out the manual for the printer, especially the troubleshooting section. Can this printer be plugged in to the router via an Ethernet cable? |

Does that report have the printer's current IP address?
If so, can you try pinging it from your computer? Have you plugged it to the router via an Ethernet cable, and then pinging it? |

No, plug the printer to the router. I'm assuming the router has at least 4 Ethernet ports. Is your PC plugged in to the router or do you connect it wirelessly as well?

What was the result of the ping? Have you installed the drivers for it? Have you tried everything in the Wireless troubleshooting section of the manual?

Not a problem. Personally, I prefer wired: faster, more secure, more reliable, and less headaches. My Epson printer has also wireless capabilities, but I have it plugged in to the router via good auld Ethernet.
Good to hear you've gotten it working. Cheerio. |
