Remove McAfee Sec. Ctr.
I am working on an older Emachines W3050 which has not been used for over a year. It has McAfee Security Center installed, but, the subscription has expired and Add/Remove only brings up a blank McAfee page. How can I uninstall this from this machine?
I'm going to replace it with Microsoft Security essentials. The older couple who own this machine do not have internet where they live (the desert in Arizona), but they do go to some areas where they can get it. Just need basic anti-virus for when they can get online. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks dalet_44 |

Download to a pendrive a copy of Ccleaner, there is a download link on the first page of FileHippo.com - Download Free Software and use the pendrive to install Ccleaner on the old eMachine.
Use the uninstaller of Ccleaner>Tools to initialise the uninstall feature of McAfee and then use Ccleaner to clean up all the unwanted files and registry entries on that old eMachine. If this doesn't work let me know, I know of another uninstaller.

I've tried that already and it still brings up an empty screen from McAfee.
What else can we try? And thank you for the quick response. |

I downloaded the Mcafee installer you posted above and found that it has nothing to do with removing McAfee products. It is something similar to other generic un-installers.
But, I did find a solution for the problem here:http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe. This will worl for XP forward. Will not work on 98 or ME. Again Mr. Villarosa I would like to thank you for your time and effort, and, at least there is a solution available for this problem, that may help some of the other forum Members. |

Take a look at this little app:
MyUninstaller: Alternative uninstaller to the standard Windows Add / Remove module I have used "myuninstaller" many times in the past to shift an annoying piece of junk like McRapafee. The problems you have had getting rid of McRapafee is one of my major peeves with third party software, printer and camera software being quite possibly the worst offenders. Run myuninstaller to check what else is on that machine and to make sure all the McRapafee rubbish is gone. |

If all that remains of McAfee is bits and pieces and it is not running in the background then whats the harm in leaving what remains?
