Outlook Express - Export/Import problem.
I'm having the same exact problem as this post (link at bottom) except I'm not finding my info in the same place. Got my address book sent but not the messages.
Thanks from the Newbie. http://www.pcmech.com/forum/windows-...k-express.html |

How many identities do you have? Have you checked each one for the .dbx files?

I don't even have a Local Settings folder in my Documents and Settings. Can I just search dbx. files?

This is something you can change in tools, options, maintenance, store location. Change it to someplace you want it stored, close OE down, then bring it back up. It will be in the new place.

You need to enable display of hidden and system files in your folder options.

Control panel, folder options, view. Scroll down and you will see it. Show hidden files and folders and unhide extensions for known file types.

That worked great! Thanks guys.
Now I need to know how to do a complete system restore on the computer I moved everything out of. Seems to only have the option to go back a few months. ??? I want a COMPLETE restore back to the way it came out of the box. |

What brand and model is the computer? What version of Windows is on it? What CD's and DVD's did it come with? Did you ever make a set of restore media?

Dell Dimension 4600. Windows XP, Not sure about the restore media. I have all the programs on disc if I feel like reinstalling them.

If it was built after July 2004, it has a recovery partition. Press Ctrl+F11 immediately on startup to access it. If it doesn't work, you will have to use the Dell CD's to do it. You will have to use the OS Reinstall CD, then the Resource CD to install the drivers, then reinstall all the software.
