Starcraft 2 Unable to Download Authentication Module
If you're running avast just uninstall it and find a new free antivirus because today's update blocked something so SC2 won't run.
Just got this error message on Starcraft 2. Must have been the first person with the problem as the tech support had no idea. He was refrencing forum solutions that I already read, guess he was googling the tech support. Got disconnected and called back, the wait time went from 5 to 25 minutes (guess more people had the problem). Uninstalled avast while waiting and when I got ahold of someone she confirmed that Avast was causing the problem. |

Only need to turn off the "file system shield" in Avast and it works fine.

Fix
I'm using Vista 64 and this worked... Go to Start > Computer > C:/ > You will see a "Program Data" Folder. Right Click and uncheck "hidden" & apply to all sub folders/directories.
Then open Avast > Real Time Shields > File System Shield > Expert Settings > Exclusions Add an exception for C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net folder Restart SC2 |
