thunderbird 3.1.4: leave email on server?

I have looked all over for this answer and i am quite sure its infront of my face but I can see it. how do i leave emails on the server using 3.1.4?

I've never even seen TBird - but all other softwares-> Tools->Accounts and then click into advanced settings.

yeah i found a "leave email on server" in other versions of it but not the latest one. I dont know if i have to "add on" something or not.

What type of email account is it? POP3 or something else?

pop3, thunderbird did an automatic set up thing and IMAP is what it made the account with.
