Excel startup problems

I have a coworker whose Excel '00 opens several files that its not supposed to such as:
resetlog.txt
config.sys
frunlog.txt
startlogo.oem
autoexec.nai
autoexec.bat

etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office and it still does it. Anybody have any ideas as to what caused this and what can be done to remedy.

TIA,
PMich

Sorry. I was in a bit of hurry during my first post. This problem (more of a nuisance has been going on for a couple of months) It has been scanned for virii and is clean. It also updates Virusscan weekly so I am sure that it is up to date. I really thought it was a virus at first because it almost seems to behave like a macro. What I find strange is it seems to me that the files open in a manner similar to what I think windows does at startup. Also, the last change I made to the systray (i.e. removed intellimouse icon) shows up as the last file that Excel opens upon starting. Maybe this info will help.
