New user with new install

Hi people,

just joined up and looking for some help/views

ok the story is - just got a "new" (2nd hand desktop) off a mate and getting internet in flat for 1st time in few years due to be activated on Monday,

desktop spec - Fujitsu Scenic, 3GHz P4 with 1GB ram, onboard graphics and 2 SATA HDDs totalling 120GB

not earth shattering I know but I dont play much in way of games (maybe FM or other management/sim games)

So far all that is installed is XP Pro with SP2 and the sound n vid drivers,

since I've not had internet/blank install for a good while I'm looking for idea's of what software everyone thinks I should put on it come Monday when internet is activated??
