How large are your PST files? If they get close to 2 gigs - you'll have all sorts of problems.

If you reboot and launch Outlook, how many Outlooks do you see in task manager?

i was seeing 2 of them but somehow i fixed it. i uninstalled outlook and deleted all the personal folders and reinstalled then i made a new personal folder and outlook asked me if i wanted to make new shortcuts i ok'd that now i works! Just out of curiosity when i backup my .pst file does it store my contacts and "notes"? If it does how do i import them back into a new install of outlook. Thats what got me in this mess in the first place when i tried to import my backup.pst file into another computer with a new install of outlook it created a new personal folder.pst and outlook started to "lockup" when i tried to download e-mail.

Outlook creates its own backup.pst, but I've not always been successful in retrieving all my info when importing from it. Your best bet is to create your own pst file and put it in a location you know so that it can be backed up easily.

Something like TimsOE.pst under My Documents? You best do this as soon as you install Outlook.
