Laptop shuts down when lid closed
About 50% of the times I close my laptop lid and then return to open it later, I am faced with a message saying, “ a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to protect your computer.” It goes on to tell me to check out recent hardware or software installations.
The only change to my installations recently was the download of Trusteer Rapport, a banking security programme which I run in conjunction with Kaspersky. I removed this programme amd found the problem with shutting down remained., so I have reinstalled Trusteer Rapport.. The message goes on to tell me to “disable Bios memory options such as caching and shadowing”.......I have no idea how to do this, or what it will achieve. The message gives a line of technical information “ 0X00000044,(0X871A74D8,0X00000000,0X00000000) Could anyone please give me an idea as to why my laptop keeps shutting down, and what I can do about it. Sony Vaio, 2 ghz processor.... 3gb Ram.....80gb hard drive …....Kaspersky IS 2011 |

Change the power options so it will "do nothing" when you close the lid.
