Microsoft Security Essentials.
AVG has been moved to the black list now.

black list?
I've been using MSE + Malwarebytes + Adaware free. MSE misses some really bad files. I uploaded one to virustotal.com and EVERY anti virus shown a virus EXCEPT Microsoft Essentials.

No AV program catches everything. We all understand that, and when we give a recommendation is based on the unspoken acknowledgement that some will catch certain bugs that others will miss. MSE is the best "all round", but no program is perfect.

That's another one we don't use anymore. It got way too bloated. We replaced it with Spybot (with the immunize feature). There's also SpywareBlaster (killbit and blocklist solution).

Well, install Norton AV: it'll get bogged down in an eyeblink.

Just another nail in the coffin of AVG one update on my windows 7 locked it out of booting. I had to use a special directory rename and rename all of the avg files...took like an hour and a half!

Norton is not to joke about. It will fry your computer within 30 minutes of scanning. I have never and will never install any symantec product. The application isn't worth the space on my hard drive in my book, let alone the bandwidth to download a free copy.

I had Avast on my laptop, then replaced it with MSE. It was alright but it started to nag me about buying the paid version. I guess it depends on the version you have, because I have Avast on my bench machine at work and it doesn't nag me any and works good; it's what I use to scan and clean up customers' hard drives.

I always find something interesting here, I have norton on my wifes laptop. It is slow for what it is and I have a feeling it may have to do with Norton, what should I do? She uses it for work and always has a ton of apps open with many windows and crap, it has plenty of memory and CPU power.

I guess I will then, should I do it in a specific order? Like should I install MSE first and then uninstall Norton?

Don't think the order matters in this case.

It must depend on the version of the engine. The one on my bench machine doesn't nag me either; I've seen it also on a number of customers' machines and it doesn't display the nags either.

I have always used AVG I have it installed on 3 computers for years. It never seems to be "bloated" or over use resources. I just learned about MSE and malwarebytes. So now I have avg and mse running on the 3 computers and they run as smooth as ever.

You should not run both at the same time.
