IE splashscreen

I updated to the newest version of IE on my Win7 desktop and every new launch of IE I get a splashscreen for me to explore the new features...blah, blah, blah... How do I get rid of this annoying thing?

Is there a NEXT or an Explore type option that once click will make it stop popping up?

Look in tools/internet options/ home page and see if something other than the home page you want is listed. If so,delete it and set "always use this Page." That worked for me.

Little Google searching:

Quote:
Its easy if you have group policy.
The setting is-> User or Computer config->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Internet Explorer->Prevent performance of First Run Customize settings

That disables the welcome screen.
or..

Quote:
The faster and more reliable way is running regedit.exe from Start --> Run

and find the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Change the "RunOnceHasShown" on the right to: 1

thats all...

I found the reason I could not launch group policy editor in Win 7 Home Premium...
read below...

Problem: Cannot Find the Windows 7 Gpedit.msc
A common problem is that even though you type precisely gpedit.msc, Windows 7 cannot find gpedit.msc. The most likely cause is that you have the Home Premium edition. It's most disappointing that you only get gpedit.msc in the Ultimate, Professional (old Business) and Enterprise editions, and not in the Windows 7 Home Premium or Basic editions.

Another common problem is that you forget to type the .msc file extension. Windows 7 cannot find gpedit unless you append the .msc file extension.

Other your problem launching the group policy editor could be a plain typo, you type gdedit.mcs or some other anagram of gpedit.msc.

Issue resolved....I'm too embarrassed to admit that I needed to READ everything on this splashscreen. The solution was then obvious. THX for all the replys and help.
