Word 2010: Previous Files Createated With Word 97

I recently downloaded from Microsoft on a trial basis Office 2010 Home and Business.

When using Word 2010 there is a glitch on opening files that were created using the software that I previously had installed, i.e. Microsoft Word 97.

When I single click a file, it opens quickly.

However, when I double click a file, a dialogue box appears, which reads:
“Windows cannot find ‘C: \ Documents and Settings \ (name of account holder) \ (name of file)’. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.”

This dialogue box has an OK option that can be clicked.

If I do nothing in response to the above and wait 20-30 seconds the file opens. If I click the OK button, sometimes the file opens after a delay, sometimes it does not.

Is there anything I could do that would enable me to double click and open a file quickly without incurring the delay of dealing with a dialogue box?

In Word 2010,click "open" and inthe drop down list, click "All Word Files". I have Office 2010 Professional and everything opens with one click. Some recommend un-installing the old Office first before installing the new. Also, there could have been something missed in the download. I bought the version on disc.

This might be a crazy idea but uninstall 2010. Install 97. Completely uninstall 97. Now reinstall 2010.

Be certain to backup your Word files.

Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that the trial version does not include all features until you cough up the $$$ to unlock them.
