Microsoft Word 97
I recently downloaded from Microsoft on a trial basis Office 2010 Home and Business. Prior to this I had Microsoft Word 97.
I have tried to uninstall Word 97 and am uncertain whether it is still on my hard drive. When I access ‘Programs’ via ‘Start’, Word 97 does not appear on the list. But when I go to ‘Settings’ and access ‘Add or Remove’, Word 97 is listed. However, the ‘Size’ section is blank; it holds no information. When I highlight Word 97 and click on ‘Remove’, a dialogue box appears. This is headed: “Setup Initialization Error” It reads “Setup cannot access the required initialisation file ‘C:/PROGRAM 1\MICROS\OFFICE\SETUP\ACMEWORLD.LST’” The end result is that Word 97 remains listed in ’Add or Remove’. Despite this, has Word 97 been uninstalled? If not, how do I uninstall? |

You might want to try Revo Uninstaller. If Word is still there, it'll uninstall it, if not it will let you remove the Word 97 entry from the list of Programs.
Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware

You can use CCleaner to remove add/delete entries. It's one of the tools.

If that does not work, uninstall 2010, install 97, uninstall 97 completely and then reinstall 2010. Yes, I know it sounds nuts.
