pesky virtual drive wont leave system

os: win xp 64 pro sp2

well ive removed all the disk image software from my computer AFAIK...
there remains a virtual cd rom drive in the E slot

i have tried going to disk management in ctrl panel/admin services..the virtual drive is not listed
i have tried a cmd line with a switch to delete the drive, and it said e: was an invalid paramater
and i have looked at control panel/devices and i dont see anyting listed that sounds like a virtual drive

one thing i thoughth of is - is there a service related to virtual drives? because i did some tweaking on the services a while back to maxx out performance

any suggestions? thanks as always, fellas

edit: nevermind, problem fixed for now, but ive been having a multitude of problems with virt drives so i might have to come backa nd update the thread later
