Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate
Hello all,
I have a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate that my sister had purchased through her college about 2 years or so ago. I recently replaced her motherboard in her computer which in turn cause Windows 7 and Office 2007 to reactivate. Windows 7 reactivated without issue, but Office 2007 will not activate. When I call product activation, they tell me the install ID is not valid. When I do the over the internet activation it tells me we have met installation limits. When I try automated activation, I am told the product is not genuine. Long story short. I have this Office 2007 ultimate that is installed one two computers with only one installation per machine which is allowed by microsofts end user agreement or so they say. How can I go about getting this product activated. Microsoft is telling me they cannot help. I have the product key, the certificate of authenticity and the installation ID. We cannot seem to find the invoice for the product or if it went through Digital River at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

Did you tell Microsoft that the motherboard died?
I think that install is tied to the motherboard.

Pam,
I did in fact tell them the motherboard died. They proceeded to tell me the installation ID is not valid and I need to either purchase a new copy of Office, or try and get the retailer to replace it. I have never had such an issue with them before with any of my other products. |

Are you SURE you aren't misreading it? M$ keys can be confusing - like telling the difference between a B and a 8, a G and a 6, etc.

After going through different routes with microsoft on the phone, I finally got the issue resolved. For whatever reason, the installation was not valid but they were able to verify the product key was valid. They reset the installation ID and everything was as good as new. Apparently, you need to get bounced around microsoft before you find someone who can help.

Pam,
I couldn't agree with you more. I was asked to rate on a scale of 1-10 how helpful Microsoft was. I told the gentlemen his help was a 10 but my experiences over the past two days would only get a 1. He could not understand why the other people I spoke with as MS couldn't point me in the correct direction or even see for themselves that my product was valid. |
