School software install problem

Hi,

I'm working at a school that has a strange server setup.

I can not access the student server unless I login as the student and to install the student software I need to make the student local admin now after I've installed the software I can run it as the student while they have local admin rights but when I remove them from local admin the software looks for the CD to run the program so I think I'm either looking at a path issue or a rights issue.

Now when I install the software from the server there is a client install and this is what I'm using so it should see that it is running from a server with that type of install at least I would think it would but I could be wrong.

We are on an XP/2003 environment and the software is TNV server for Edmark software.

If you can think of a setting that I can change please let me know. Just really need to get this running correctly.

Thanks in advance

Who set up the server and can you contact him/her?

From your description a work around was used (Assuming it's not an error.) and you need to know why.

Sounds like the right direction sadly the district did a scorched earth with their tech team now we are trying to figure out all of the tribal stuff.

Great feedback I think it will lead me in the right direction.

Thumbs up

So, the fix on this turned out to be setting the security options on the program through regedit however doing it on the folder probably would have worked also after the security options were set I restarted the PC.
